Victim Campaign Headquarters

The Home of the Ordianary Person

(Based on ideas from Eric Wujcik's

"Alternative, outrageous, silly, but always fun horror genre rules
or
Dad don't go in the basement!")

First off, let me commend you for your courage. You are about to take the idea of Horror Role-Playing into totally new dimension! The main book offers a sub-game campaign of the same title and only a few of us brave souls took the challenge to run a game where someonle very much like ourselves could be trust into a world of monsters, magic, and awe. You, by willingly entering here are such a person that is seen few and far between. Welcome you brave, Role_Player, you are truly worthy of the title Elite!

The ideas of the "victim" are nothing new. Actually it is the very heart of the Horror World. I was Shocked Palladium left it as a secondary, and quite uneloborated, appraoch to a horror genre game. The older movies (from the 50's and 60's) all showed the average person caught up in some weird aranormal acitvity. And who can forget Poltergeist? An ordinary family haunted by the spirits, or Scream? A young girl's town is thrust into terror as a killer stalks her and her firends, this too is a horror movie, or what about Nightmare on Elm Street, or Friday the 13th? All of these are movies that define the term "Horror Movie" yet all of these are ignored by the bulk of the game Beyond the Supernatural. Here you will see how the game can be built to display a true horror setting, one where monsters and the evil has an edge, not where human psychics and X-File'ish agents roam with big guns, one where only your wits can save you!

    Special Information

This section is just a general re-hash of the similar section in the main book (Startin on Page 193.) But much of the information here will be changed to allow a more flexible game style, hopefully, as well asaid in creating a totally new prespective on this game. I hope you enjoy this style and approach. (Note: For those of you who have seen, or played, the Teeny-Bopper game, those characters can easily be added to the Victim game.)

    Table I. Age

    01-17 1D6+3
    18-40 1D6+6
    41-65 1D6+12
    66-85 2D6+18
    86-95 3D6+30
    96-00 4D6+51

To figure what to roll for attributes, look below to see what calss you fit into (by age) and roll your attributes that co-ordinate. Refer to the main book for the attribute chart. Roll on the table based on what class you fit into, classes (by age) listed below.

  • AGE Class to roll from:
  • 04-09 Child
  • 10-12 Pre-teen
  • 13-18 Teenager
  • 22-30 Adult
  • 31+ Middle Aged
  • 55+ Senior Citizen

    Table II: Alignment

As you all knwo the Victim Campaign does not use the standard alignments. You can if you wish, but it's far more entertaining to use the ones listed/created for the vicitm campaign. Since these are nothing different from the ones listed in the main book I'm jsut going to list them in a Random chart, you can read about each one begining on Page 194.

    01-15 Chump (Nice)
    16-30 Self-Righteous (Nice)
    31-50 Self-Centered (Selfish)
    51-80 Piggy (Selfish)
    81-90 Practical Joker (Nasty)
    91-00 Bully (Nasty)

    O.C.C.'s of the Victim

This is a VERY difficult job to do, assembling a list of OCC's. It's like asking waht does every non-monster/psychic on Earth today do? Hmmmm.... Well that leaves about 500-600 MILLION occupations on Earth! First off, any one who rolled a 13-16 (I wouldn't go much older for these) and have a FEMALE character can use the Teeny-Bopper OCC's. NOTE: The Young Arcanist and Young Psychic are NOT allowed in the Victim campaign! The rest of us will have to use the rest of the OCC's I can come up with. If you have any, or know anyone who does, have them e-mail them to me!

    Skills

There are a few skills lists for the Victim Campaigb. Each one is age based. Obviously a child will ALOT less options as far as skills go. So each chart is modified to reflect this.

  • Teenager Skils List*
  • Other Victim Characters Skills List
    * - The Teenager list is the same modified list used in the Teeny-Bopper Campaign.

    Equipment

This is really not a major thing, most of this is defined under each OCC. Most people have at least the following (or can get to it quickly):

  • Writing Supplies (pen/pencil and a notepad)
  • A week's worth of laundry (dirty and/or clean)
  • A mild amount of snacks and food (sodas included)
  • A kitchen knife set (1D4-1 to 1D6 damage depending on type)
  • A TV/VCR set-up and a Stereo (and about 5-6 CDs, kids will only have 1-2)
  • Whatever else the players and GM decide upon before starting.

    Notes

There is only a few things I feel I must stress. This game is pretty stand-alone, even this "adventure" set-up. little modification is required (which is good for me typing this page). One bonus is it allows for faster play by quickly setting a mood and giving a basic stable well-known environment. Just think of today, your town...

Now picture you are a young college student, You are up late studying for a HUGE test tomorrow. Looking at your clock it's 2:00 am. You look out your window and see the skyline of the town {your town players!} It's a dark rainy night, clouds hide th stars and moon and the ground is soaked with the never ceasing rain. Suddenly the power goes out. Thew air begins to smell foul You see a body fall out past your window! Looking at it, it looks like your neighbor (or neighbor's kid) {yes yours players!} You rush dowstairs stumbling through the dark.(S)He is dead. Suddenly you smell that same foul odor, this time much stronger. You feel the rain let up a little, then you realize while looking around, the rain is letting up something's over you!
    What do you do?!?!?!

There, now you see how it works so easily... Your own town, a college student there. COuld you picture an old friend falling? Could you picture a monster loose in YOUR town?! Well, it's all that easy to set-up in the Victim campaign! You were not super powered, yet you have to defend yourself against this, this beast! The pure essence of horror stories!

    A few pointers to remember:

  • People are easily frightened, especially if they see a monster, yes even soldiers, I find it IMPOSSIBLE to think of our Army NOT running from a monster unless they have alot of soldiers and big guns! An advantage you palyers are not likely to get.
  • Cops and Police do not believe stories of monsters and such. Often you may be alone.
  • People often follow the crowd, in most cases running away.
  • So keep the tought, what would I do...honestly????
