Carnja Hunter/Assassin R.C.C.

By: Gwilym Croucher (vaughan_croucher@cit.act.edu.au)

The Carnja (pronounced carn-jar) Hunter/Assassin is an alien humanoid related to the Yautja Hunter (Predator). They are between 6 and 8 feet tall with a black skin, and their faces are that of a human with long front teeth. They have pitch black eyes and can also see by sonar (much like bats). They have strong psychic abilities, and make great use of an alien form of bio-wizardry. The Carnja have incredible physical strength and prowess. Unfortunately the Carnja are driven by a need to hunt an stalk prey, like their predator cousins. How the Carnja are related to the Yautja is not exactly know, it appears that the Carnja are some faction of the Yautja community that submitted themselves to massive bio argumentation, this has produced an even more sadistic group of hunter aliens that live only to hunt and kill. They eat the raw flesh of their prey or other raw meat if really hungry. The Carnja are only in small numbers on the RIFTS earth and the groups could be counted on two hands, unlike their Yautja cousins they have adapted well and blend in easily in any Atlantean city. The Carnja are an incredible violent but intelligent race, they are not animals and will communicate with other races, having said this the Carnja are still hunters who, even if living in a city will still stalk and kill prey when others are not looking. The Carnja individually are an incredible powerful and cunning combat machine, if an entire army or legion of them was to find their way to Rifts earth it could be a force even the mighty Slurgorth could not counter. Luckily the Carnja are not interested in domination just to hunt, stalk and kill. The price of this power is that the Carnja must kill honourably at least every two weeks or go crazy (see 'The Price of Power')

WARNING: the Carnja R.C.C. is a sick and brutal character, some people may find using it in heir game inappropriate, It should be left up the GM to decide. I don't recommend this character for young/inexperienced players as it requires a great deal of maturity.

A Carnja player characters will be an individual who is either a loner or part of a small and evil mercenary company.

They do not require any other clothes but may have them if they need to blend in. They may also have one other energy weapon with 1D6 E-Clips. As they eat the raw flesh of their prey they carry little else. They usually travel in a Yautja or Carnja space craft and are dropped where they hunt. Being stuck on Rifts earth means they could use any form of transport, but usually stealth oriented.

Bionics and Argumentation: The Carnja are already heavily augmented and will never under any circumstance get any form of bio augmentation. They will die if it is forced on them.
Weakness: The Price of Power: an insane urge to kill

WARNING: Some people may find this aspect of the Carnja inappropriate for their game, I suggest not using them in that case as the Carnja's insane urge to kill is fundamental to the proper play of the R.C.C.. As I have said before I do not recommend this character for young/inexperienced players as it requires a great deal of maturity.

The price of the Carnja's massive bio augmentation seems to have been an insane, sickening, almost unstoppable urge to kill and stalk honourably. The Carnja's only real reason for living is to; a) Hunt, and b) hunt with honour. This is what has lead the Carnja to mix in with Rifts society, it is because they are looking for the ultimate honourable hunt. Unlike the Yautja it is more honourable to stalk an unstoppable enemy and kill him from behind then it is to engage in out right combat. The Carnja will NEVER use any range weapon to kill a trophy, but instead use the traditional hand weapons of the Yautja or their own Plasma Sword. They may use ranged weapons for non-honourable combat (killing someone in your way) or to subdue non-honourable danger (a legion of CS troops). Once the Carnja have killed honourably they will eat the raw flesh of their prey, scalp them (like the Yautja) and keep their skull. The Carnja value the honourable hunt above all else.

To maintain this urge the Carnja must kill honourable at least every two weeks, I does not matter what trophy is gained as long as it was killed honourably. If for some reason the Carnja hasn't killed honourably in two weeks (being locked up in jail) then roll on the following table, with percentile dice, each day after the two week point.

Roll on percentile Dice:

  • 01 - 60; The Carnja goes into an unstoppable rage and attacks the nearest person or thing at full strength. They will use all their attacks to try and kill any one around or trying to stop them. If restrained (by many people, with a combined equal P.S.) for two melee rounds then the Carnja will return to normal by must roll on Table 1 every hour until they kill honourably.

61 - 85; The Carnja suffers a complete Alignment change, they will act the exact opposite then before and (if evil, most are) start acting by the laws of good alignments(more so) and will not kill. This means that they will not harm any body unless attacked. This can make the character useless as it will only attack if being attacked. The Carnja will return to normal if they are given the skull of some they have kill in defense, they will never get it by themselves and will have to be given it.

86 - 00; The Carnja will try to commit suicide unless restrained for two melees, they will attack any body how tries to stop them. If restrained for two melee rounds they will return to normal but have to roll on Table 1 every hour until they kill honourably.

The Carnja will never suffer from any other form of mental illness, fear, phobia or problem except as above.
